It's not enough to record the average daily high and low temperatures in each section of a warehouse or trailer when planning storage for perishable goods. The seasons, weather, and potential loss of electricity are all factors to consider (especially for trailer mapping).
Maintain a Time Log
No rules mandate a minimum or maximum amount of time spent on a
trailer, warehouse, or equipment map. Mapping of Room Cabinets needs
to be done for at least a week, and we advise starting with day one. In this
way, both weekdays and weekends will be covered.
The primary goal of equipment mapping is to compile information
on your trailers or another type of equipment's reefer or controller cycles.
For a Mapping of
Room Storage that will take 24 hours, data collection must
last for at least that long. It's unacceptable to take 23 hours and 59 seconds.
Temperature Sensors Should Be Installed in High-Risk Areas
Temperature sensors should be placed in high-traffic locations
(near entrances and exits) and places prone to temperature drops and rises. In
addition to alerting, you to temperature changes, this feature detects them as
they happen. There are no guidelines for how many loggers can be utilized or
where they should be stationed. We spaced them at 50-foot intervals and varying
heights. You should also install it whenever there is a thermostat or air
conditioning/heating unit. It's preferable to wager more than less.
